Fragrance & Perfume

Often the chemicals used in perfumes and fragrance are synthetic compounds and many are known skin sensitizers and irritants.

On the majority of cosmetic and skincare product labels, the ingredients are not specified separately.

Common irritants often labeled simply as “Fragrance” or “Perfume” include:

  • Wood tars
  • Benzyl salicylate
  • Musk ambrette
  • Sandalwood oil
  • Cinnamic alcohol
  • Eugenol
  • Benzyl alcohol
  • Oak moss

Check the label of any of your existing products to see if they contain a perfume, parfum or fragrance.

Why exederm does NOT contain perfume or fragrance

We believe that perfumes and fragrances are simply not a necessary additive to a cleanser or moisturizer. By avoiding fragrance we can avoid a potential skin sensitizer or irritant — it’s common sense.

What the Experts Say:

“Skin exposure to fragrance is known to cause perfume contact allergy and eczema..”
